Use VitaLink Buffer solution to calibrate your pH meters. The pH of your solution greatly affects the availability of nutrients within that solution. pH which is too high or too low can cause deficiencies in nutrients that plants need to grow.
It can also negatively affect bacteria in your system or substrate. The accuracy of a pH meter will change with time due to aging, its electrode coating degrades over its period of use. To ensure it is working correctly, regular calibration is a must.
If you are using your pH meter daily, you should calibrate it at least once a week. To calibrate, use either VitaLink Buffer 4 or VitaLink Buffer 7. Using both of these buffers will make your meter more accurate.
The temperature of your solution will also affect the pH value. When calibrating, it is necessary that your pH meter and your calibration fluid have the same temperature. To achieve this, place them in the same room several hours prior to performing calibration. Available in 250ml and 1L bottles.

Never immerse your pH tester / meter in to the bottle as this will contaminate your buffer solution.
Pour a little buffer 4 solution into a small container and follow the steps outlined in the manual for your meter.
After calibration, rinse the probe with clean water and shake off excess water before use or storage.
Discard the solution after calibration and do not pour it back into to the bottle after the use.
Keep your pH probe moist at all times to prevent damage
